Intertops betting players should be getting ready for UFC 136, which features a pair of championship fights in Houston, but the main attraction is the third fight between lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard, who have already participated in this year’s best fight with their classic on New Year’s Day. Will the third live up to the hype?

Edgar Maynard Odds – Saturday, 7:00 PM ET

Edgar (13-1-1) has a versatile game that allows him to be comfortable on the mat or standing up, and he uses his quickness and technique to make up for a lack of size. Many feel he should move down to 145 pounds as he is a small lightweight, but price per head players who have been paying attention know that Edgar can hold his own in this class.

Maynard (10-0-1) should have won the second fight, but he couldn’t finish Edgar after a flurry in the first round, allowing the champion to get back in the fight. Maynard has a lot of power in his hands and a strong wrestling background that allows him to push him opponent around the octagon, which is why he is nicknamed “The Bully”.

UFC odds have Edgar as a slight -140 favorite here, while Maynard is rated at +110, and this should be another close fight as both men are as tough as nails, so it should go the distance. Edgar has learned his lesson; stay away from Maynard’s power punches, and he’ll use his speed to get around for a decision victory. Take Frankie Edgar in your favorite sportsbooks.

MLB Betting – Ride Philadelphia Pitching All The Way To The World Series

Put down those free online fishing games because it’s time to start thinking about the World Series; the regular season is wrapping up in Major League Baseball and that means World Series picks have to be made. While chicks dig the long ball, pitching wins titles, which is why Philadelphia should be your pick.

While the Phillies have some solid bats in the lineup with Ryan Howard leading the way, their pitching is the reason why they’re the MLB betting favorites to win the Fall Classic. Reigning Cy Young winner Roy Halladay and Cliff Lee are strong candidates to win the award that goes to the league’s best pitcher, while Cole Hamels probably would have been considered if he wasn’t hurt. Rookie Vince Worley has been phenomenal in place of the veteran Roy Oswalt, who has battled a myriad of problems this year. Because of their strong starting pitching, it has allowed the bullpen to be rested as the Phillies lead the majors with 18 complete games, and while they have 45 saves (eighth in the majors), Philadelphia is also tops with only eight blown saves.

New York and Texas may be their main challengers as everyone else may be exhausted by the races for the wild cards in either league. Detroit is a dangerous darkhorse, but they also can’t start Justin Verlander in every game, and that hurts their chances. Philadelphia should be your sports betting pick for the World Series.

NHL Betting – The Top Five Free Agents On The Market

Even baseball betting players know team have to play the free-agent game, and the NHL’s edition of this kicks off on Friday, where clubs will be competing for the signatures of these five names.

Brad Richards

Richards probably won’t resign with Dallas, and he’s the biggest name on the market. He still has some good years left at 31, and he’s still one of the best set-up men in the game. If you’re a team with a sniper (hello, Toronto), you’re trying to persuade Richards to come to your team.

Ville Leino

Leino is also a good set-up man, but the Flyers may look to keep him after trading Mike Richards and Jeff Carter out of town. He is also heading into his prime at 27, and Leino will get a raise as he gets added responsibility in Philadelphia.

Tomas Vokoun

Vokoun has played for some bad Nashville and Florida teams, and it would be interesting to see what his numbers would be like if he played on a good team. He may be willing to take a pay cut too, after earning $5.7 million last year.

Erik Cole

Cole played 82 games for the first time in his career at 32 years old, and he could provide veteran leadership on a young team. He can also still put the puck in the back of the net, and teams are always looking for that.

Dwayne Roloson

At the other end of the spectrum, teams could do a lot worse than to offer a one-year deal to 41-year-old Roloson, who excels in do-or-die situations. Tampa Bay wouldn’t have gotten as far as they did without him, and the team that picks “Rollie The Goalie” will be improving their betting odds for next season.

Betting MLB – Brewers-Red Sox Highlight Weekend Interleague Play

Those betting MLB this weekend will find a full slate of interleague matchups to check out, and here is a look at some trends, beginning with a series that could be a World Series preview.

Brewers Red Sox Betting

The Red Sox have roared to the lead in the American League East after a slow start, while the Brewers are trying to hold off St. Louis in the National League Central, but they’ll be hoping for a better time than their last visit to Fenway Park in 2008. Boston swept that three-game series, with two games going over the posted total.

Yankees Cubs Betting

The Yankees should be favored on the road at Wrigley Field, where they dropped two of three back in 2003. Two of those three games came in under the posted total, but check the total because the Yankees could have a big weekend: New York is tied with Boston for the major-league lead in runs scored heading into the weekend, while only Houston has allowed more runs this season that the Cubs.

Giants Athletics Betting

The “Bay Bridge” series kicks off on Friday in Oakland, where the Giants have split their last 10 meetings with the Athletics. Eight of those games have come in under the posted total, which shouldn’t be surprising as both teams have built their teams around pitching. Both rank in the bottom five teams in terms of runs scored, and they’re in the top 10 when it comes to runs allowed, so expect a low-scoring series when heading to online betting sites.
