Going into the 2010-11 NCAA basketball betting seasons, the Ohio State Buckeyes were projected by many experts to be one of the best teams in the nation. Despite a 26 and two record similar to the Kansas Jayhawks and a number two ranking in the AP 25 polls, many March Madness betting experts can’t help but wonder if this team is for real or just been lucky to date?

In order for the Buckeyes to have any chance at winning the March Madness tournament this year, they will need a big performance from freshman phenom Jared Sullinger. At six foot nine 280 pounds, Sullinger is one of the most dynamic big men in the NCAA. In fact, many experts and fans from around the country are saying, that although he is a freshmen, Sullinger should be the NCAA player of the year.

Thus far, through the first 28 games of the regular season, Sullinger is averaging an astounding 17.8 points per game, nine point nine rebounds per game and almost two assists a game in 31 minutes of playing time. The 31 minutes a game, have Sullinger ranking amongst the elite of the NCAA, a rare feat for a rookie.

Jared Sullinger is the centerpiece to this year’s Buckeyes team, which many are saying can contend for the NCAA title. But aside from Sullinger, the Buckeyes also have many complimentary pieces. These pieces include perimeter shooters, William Buford and Dave Lighty, as well as three point specialist Aaron Craft. Of the three aforementioned players, the one that best compliments Sullinger is senior combo star David Lighty.

Lighty can play either shooting guard or small forward. Meaning to say, he’s got enough court IQ to find his teammates, especially Sullinger, and he’s the perfect swingman. His four rebounds a game rank second to Sullinger, showing he too can get the job done on the defensive side of things.
