Army Navy betting is the appetizer this week before bowl season starts and everyone can’t wait for the main entrees – the BCS bowls. Here are a few early picks for the big games, which arrive in the New Year.
Rose Bowl: Oregon (-3.5) over Ohio State
I guess Terrelle Pryor could prove us wrong but, so far, the Buckeyes haven’t shown that they can score enough points to keep pace with the Ducks’ big running game.
Sugar Bowl: Florida (-10) over Cincinnati
Yes, Cincinnati wants to put the Big East on the map, but how focused and furious will Tim Tebow be in his final game as college player? The Bearcats don’t defend the run well. Florida should romp.
Fiesta Bowl: Boise State (+6.5) over TCU
Believe! You know this will be a wild one and I’m a believer in the nation’s top offense. How about those numbers for Kellen Moore!
Orange Bowl: Iowa (+4) over Georgia Tech
This one could go either way but Iowa will be well prepared and I like its defense to stymie the Yellow Jackets, who are 0-4 in their bowl games.
BCS Championship: Alabama (-5.5) over Texas
The win over Tim Tebow cemented ’Bama’s status as the best team in the nation and Texas had way too much trouble against Nebraska to hang with Nick Saban’s boys. Watch out in your football picks for Mark Ingram, who is gaining major momentum in the Heisman race.
